Perco tasting notes:
This coffee is characterized by notes of caramel, walnuts, and nuts. With its medium to dark roast, it's ideal for a delicate espresso with a subtle fruity character typical of coffees from the Fondo Paez cooperative.
The human story of this café:
The Fondo Paez cooperative is located in the northern part of the Cauca department in Colombia, within the largest Indigenous community in the country: Nasa (The People). It comprises 492 families who chose to form a cooperative in 1992. Since the 2000s, the cooperative has organized itself to sell coffee through the Coffee Federation's Specialty Coffee Program. The cooperative is a full member of the coffee community (fair trade, processing, and export) through the regional structure Exposurca, while maintaining complete independence in its governance. This governance operates democratically, with elected representatives drawn from the members of the organization.
Locombia, a poetic and committed identity:
Locombia announces our partnership with the Toulouse and Occitan festival dedicated to Colombian music. Born in 2017 during the France-Colombia Year, driven by a core group of enthusiasts of Colombia's musical and cultural diversity, the festival has grown and strengthened over the years.
It takes place every year in late October/early November and travels to various cultural venues in Toulouse and the surrounding region, bringing the culture of an iconic South American and Caribbean country to curious ears. It's also an opportunity for the Colombian diaspora to experience the sounds and flavors of Colombia from the South of France at this unique festival.
Launched during the 2023 edition, this partnership takes on even greater significance in 2025 following the announcement by numerous local authorities of a freeze on cultural budgets. On a personal level, by drinking this coffee you are contributing to the organization and continuation of the festival. For each 250g bag sold, €1 is donated to the Locombia association. This amount per bag thus corresponds to €250 donated per 70kg bag of green coffee opened and roasted.
Sharing added value in the delta of tasting and pleasure.
At a time when education, healthcare, and culture are suffering from arbitrary and crippling budget cuts that are crippling the economic fabric of our country, we believe it is essential to provide our moral and financial support to projects that resonate with Perco. Our ethical commitment, along with our cooperative Roasters United , guides us to ensure that the wealth generated by coffee is fairly returned to its source. This ethical commitment must also extend to consumption, through the sharing of added value in the experience of tasting and enjoyment.
